Brewery Becker

Brewery Becker is a one-of-a-kind micro-brewery with a gorgeous taproom to enjoy crafted artisan beer and small plates. This brewery is located within a historic building and serves as a staple of the Downtown Brighton community and landscape. The entrance is through the giant wooden double doors off 1st Street when you arrive.

The Menu

The brilliant minds behind these brews invite you to come by for a beverage unlike any other in the Brighton Howell Area. The finely crafted gluten-friendly historic ales and lager brewing take place on-site; you can smell the sweet brews down the street. The brewing process is unique to the Brewery Becker story; the owner’s best friend had celiac disease, and all they wanted to do was share a beer. The special processes used to create these craft drinks reduce the gluten content. Ask the attentive bartenders if you have any questions about the gluten and brewing process.

The ales change seasonally, but several house favorites stick around and get reimagined to keep it fresh. There are no spirits on the grounds so there are no cocktail options, but you will find a Beertail! Locals know it as a scrumptious mix of their favorite drafts mixed with another ingredient. Try the beloved Hefeweizen mixed with a Blood Orange San Pellegrino for a nice summery splash.

The menu provides options for non-alcoholic beverages, coffee drinks, and light-snacking items. Choose from various meats and cheeses with nuts, berries, and other snacks. Or, feel free to bring a meal with a bottle of wine from a local eatery on Main Street while enjoying a Brewery Becker beverage or two.

The Space

The brewery has indoor and outdoor space to enjoy with its award-winning Bier Garten. The ample seating, raised garden beds, and a pergola make this space a breezy, relaxing experience. When outside, you can’t miss the giant Catalpa Tree; it’s an attraction in itself. If you can believe it, the tree was as large as the building when the owners first took over. The famous Catalpa Tree at Brewery Becker is known to be one of the oldest in the world.

The brewery building has a 2nd-floor rental space perfect for hosting your next event or family gathering. The space is ready to cater to your needs, from fashion shows to bridal showers. The upstairs area has additional bathrooms and a mezzanine to be rented separately. Each week, you can find beer yoga up in this space. The brewery is completely accessible and has elevator service to the second floor.

The History

The Becker family purchased the building and invested a lot of time and resources to renovate the space, keeping the historic integrity of the original era in which it was built. The bar top in the tap room is made from wood repurposed from the building itself. Old salvaged bricks from Detroit were hand-selected for the building’s addition. Thought and detail can be appreciated throughout the space, from the hand-painted walls to the lighting and beautiful bathroom tin ceilings.
