Saddle Up for Livingston County

July 20, 2020 | Story by: Shelby Rochowiak

Livingston county is a great, neigh, the greatest area to bond with horses. The county holds 50,000 + acres of park land, and three state parks surrounded by countless bodies of water. Our four-legged friends have plenty of room to horse around to their heart’s content.

Here are some locations that provide trails for you and your mane squeeze to explore:

Hell Creek Ranch
Brighton Recreation Area
Kensington Metropark
Pinckney Recreation Area
Brighton Equestrian Club
Deerfield Hills Nature Area

First time riders are welcome. The scenic views of our trails will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. There are several sites where lessons are available.

Check out these locations for lessons:

Wildwood Ranch: Lessons take place every Saturday beginning in May and continue through November. Class levels are decided by the students’ riding ability. Overnight and day camp horsemanship opportunities for those interested between the ages of nine through seventeen.

Horseback riding and driving lessons are available for first-timers through advanced riders and drivers looking to hone their skills. They also offer birthday parties, horse yoga, social groups, and equine therapy.
