Downtown Howell Outdoor Public Art

Downtown Howell is home to many permanent art installations that cultivate a cultural experience of our area as you walk around. One exhibit is a series of glass panels by Jessica Tokman that pay homage to Howell’s rich history and traditions. Panels feature the Howell Melon Festival, Michigan Challenge Balloonfest, Sunday Farmer’s Market, and Court House Lawn Concerts. The native American Bent Limb Topiary Sculpture is inspired by the “Indian Trail Tree” formerly on Wetmore Street in northwest Howell. In the early 1800s, the Pottawatomie Indians planted and hand-bent the tree limbs toward “The Grand River Trail” a commonly used pathway to guide reference food, water, and safe travel.
